“It is only shallow people who do not judge by appearances. The true mystery of the world is the visible, not the invisible....”
― Oscar Wilde, The Picture of Dorian Gray
I like to think of myself as bearing witness to the mystery and beauty of the world. From gathering historical research to furtively staring at my fellow humans on the subway, I am constantly engaged in a personal anthropological quest. If the deepest truths are worn on the surface, then the visible deserves our respect. These values are important to me: follow the text, be truthful about history, be honest about political context, have compassion for the characters, communicate openly, collaborate, take risks, share.
